Celebrancy is a Vocation

For many of us, ‘Celebrancy’ is a vocation. We are fully invested and we love what we do.

We are independent, self-employed professionals and while our work is rewarding, it is also challenging. We’re in a high pressure, very responsible role working with clients who are in heightened emotional states at the most critical times in their lives.

This is, of course a privilege. However, there is no denying that it is also a lot for one person to carry! It’s often hard for us to process mentally and emotionally especially if we don’t have an outlet and the support of colleagues who know exactly what it’s like

This is where Civil Celebrant Connection comes in!

The role of a celebrant is so rewarding, we’re always learning. The work continuously stretches and challenges us, shaping us into better celebrants, professionals and people.

We work with amazing people, including clients and industry professionals. In such a people-facing and people-focused environment, it’s hard to believe how isolated and lonely the solo celebrant can sometimes feel.

When you are self-employed and independent, if you don’t have a supportive, honest and friendly community of celebrants around you, it can sometimes be tough.

Funeral celebrants – we act as the containers for others grief, we are the rock they stand on as we see them through the hardest of times.

Wedding Celebrants – we champion our couples, we lift them up and excite them with our ideas. We are the calm, steady hand when they are stressed or overwhelmed.

Celebrants serve. And we do it with love.

But who is there for us?…

  • When we’ve completed that really difficult and draining funeral….
  • When grief manifests as anger and is directed at us….
  • When a client is demanding or challenging
  • When we have a difficult call to make and are dreading picking up the phone…
  • When we are being ghosted and not converting enquiries to booking
  • When the diary seems empty
  • When we generally feel we are juggling too many plates and jumping through hoops!

What a relief to have a supportive, trusted community of celebrants with whom we can share our daily woes and triumphs. How reassuring to connect with other celebrants who get it; who’ve been there too; who understand.
